On 17th December 2024, an IATO delegation met Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister, Pravati Parida, and Samarth Verma, IAS – Director of Tourism, in Bhubaneswar to discuss the 40th IATO Annual Convention. Scheduled for August 2025 in Puri, Odisha, the event promises to boost tourism in the state, showcasing its rich heritage and modern infrastructure. The delegation, led by IATO President Rajiv Mehra, sought government support to ensure a successful convention.
Both the Deputy Chief Minister and the Tourism Director welcomed the initiative, expressing enthusiasm for Odisha hosting the prestigious convention in Puri, the city of Lord Jagannath. They pledged full support to IATO and highlighted the role of the convention in promoting inbound tourism to the state. The delegation emphasised how the event would create opportunities for Odisha’s tourism sector to flourish, leveraging IATO’s efforts to enhance India’s tourism industry.
To prepare for the convention, the IATO delegation inspected hotels in Puri to secure suitable accommodations for the delegates. With many new hotels in the region, the convention will allow these properties to showcase their offerings to IATO members and stakeholders. This synergy between IATO and Odisha’s hospitality sector aims to elevate the state’s profile as a premier tourist destination.
Later in the day, IATO Office Bearers held a meeting with the IATO Odisha Chapter at Hotel Swosti Premium, Bhubaneswar. Odisha members expressed their excitement and assured full cooperation for the convention. With collective efforts from IATO, the Odisha government, and local stakeholders, the 40th IATO Annual Convention in Puri is set to be a landmark event for tourism growth in the region.
