India will require at least 20,000 new pilots in the coming years to meet rising air travel demand, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu announced on February 20. Recognised as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets, the country is rapidly expanding its aviation infrastructure.
At the UDAAN Bhawan in Delhi, Naidu launched the Electronic Personnel License (EPL) for pilots, highlighting the sector’s role in boosting connectivity, economic growth, and technological advancements. He also revealed plans to build 50 new airports in five years, adding to the 157 currently operational—double the count from a decade ago.
With India’s aviation industry soaring, pilot training and airport development remain key priorities to sustain long-term growth.
