Direct flights between India and Western Australia’s Perth are being explored and discussions are being initiated with at least two Indian carriers – the Tatas and IndiGo, reports The Hindu Business Line. India has no direct air connectivity to Perth and the present ones are either through Singapore or via Melbourne and Sydney. Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, has selected TPConnects, a SaaS-based travel technology solutions provider, to power the Finnair Agency Sales Tool (FAST). This agency booking portal enables Finnair to directly distribute NDC content to travel agents, including ancillaries and personalised exclusive offers. Travel agencies using FAST are also exempt from the 12 EUR one-way surcharge the airline has now implemented via traditional EDIFACT channels. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the 657-acre, INR 401 crore Deoghar Airport in Jharkhand. The airport’s runway, which is 2,500 metres long, can accommodate the landing and take off of Airbus A320 aircraft. Modi laid the foundation stone of Deoghar airport on May 25, 2018. The new Deoghar airport is expected to increase connectivity in the region. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture has suggested to the Union Tourism Ministry to study promotion strategy of Thailand in attracting international visitors to its shores, reports The New Indian Express.
