The Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved 86 projects worth INR 1,970.54 crore for the eight northeastern states in 2024, officials said on Thursday. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) began inspecting the Reasi-Banihal rail track, the final connecting segment of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, for commencing Vande Bharat operations. The final inspection of the Reasi-Banihal track is scheduled for the first week of January 2025. The Katra-Banihal section underwent its final trial run in June this year, with a train successfully running between Sangaldan and Reasi railway stations. Beginning January 1, 2025, the US Embassy in India will implement new regulations for scheduling and rescheduling non-immigrant visa appointments. In an official statement, the Embassy said, “To make sure everyone has a fair chance at getting a visa interview appointment and to reduce wait times, we’re making some changes.
