Thai government officials on October 20 inspected the readiness of the country’s airports to welcome quarantine-free travellers, due to return next month after almost two years of strict Covid-19 rules that halted vital tourism. The covid-19 pandemic may have slowed down India’s travel and tourism sector, but a new report expects it to bounce back and cross $125 billion by 2026-27. According ‘Travel market in India’ by RedCore, research firm RedSeer’s arm, the travel business in pre-pandemic India was $75 billion in FY19-20. In a bid to make travel convenient for all, the government of Karnataka has decided to end RT-PCR checks at airports for international travellers coming to the state. The government made the announcement on October 18 and said that the RT-PCR certificates will no longer be checked.
