A strategically planned initiative – ‘Taxiway Z’ is an extension of the existing taxiway P that augments the airside efficiency and substantially lowers carbon emissions. The Centre will soon declare a national tourism policy and is also planning a global tourism investment summit, said G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism . The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation (MAEUEC) of Spain has awarded BLS International the global contract for visa application outsourcing for the second time in a row. The contract covers Europe, the Americas, Latin America, the CIS, Africa, the Middle East, and APAC, amongst other regions. BLS International has been serving the Spanish government since 2016 and currently operates 122 visa application centers (VACs) in 40 countries. IndiGo has announced new direct flights between several Indian and Middle Eastern cities. The newly introduced routes include Bengaluru-Dubai, Kochi-Bahrain, Lucknow-Dammam commencing from June 01 and Ahmedabad-Jeddah, effective from August 11, 2023. The airline has also announced seasonal additional flights between Chennai – Dammam and Kochi – Dammam in view of the high demand for travel to Middle East from India during the summer season. In a significant development, AirAsia India flight i5-767 departed from Pune to New Delhi using a blend of indigenous sustainable aviation fuel supplied by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) in partnership with Praj Industries Ltd (Praj). With the rise in tourism in the country post Covid, the sector is also witnessing an increase in online travel scams as a significant percentage of travellers have been duped while trying book holidays to save money, a report said.
