The Union Budget 2025 places tourism and hospitality at the forefront of economic growth, with several strategic initiatives aimed at boosting India’s global appeal.
Key measures include the development of 50 top tourist destinations under challenge mode and the streamlining of e-visas alongside visa-free access for select tourist groups to increase inbound travel. New hotels in these destinations will be added to the Infrastructure Harmonised List (HML), facilitating easier financing options.
The modified UDAN scheme will connect 120 more destinations, with a special focus on the Northeastern region, where helipads will be developed for improved accessibility. The Buddhist Circuit will also receive dedicated funding to enhance cultural tourism with world-class accommodations.
Additionally, skill development programs through IHMs and Mudra loans for homestay businesses will strengthen service quality and community participation in tourism.
