India will become the second country after China to introduce electronic personnel licenses (EPL) for pilots, a move set to streamline licensing processes and enhance global accessibility.
Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu will officially launch EPL on Thursday, eliminating the need for physical endorsements and renewals. The licenses will update in real time on DGCA’s eGCA platform, allowing pilots to carry them digitally.
The initiative aligns with ICAO’s 178th amendment and enables offline verification during ramp inspections. EPL is expected to enhance efficiency and transparency in India’s aviation sector.
The launch event will include MoS Murlidhar Mohol, Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam, and DGCA Chief Faiz Ahmed Kidwai. This marks a significant step in India’s aviation modernisation efforts.
