Kerala has secured the second spot on India’s ‘10 Most Welcoming Regions’ list in the 13th annual Traveller Review Awards by Booking.com, the world’s leading digital travel company. This ranking highlights Kerala’s consistent excellence in hospitality, improving from last year’s third position. The awards, based on over 360 million verified customer reviews, recognise travel partners offering exceptional service and memorable experiences.
In addition to this statewide recognition, Mararikulam, Thekkady, and Alappuzha have been ranked among India’s top 10 ‘Most Welcoming Cities,’ with Mararikulam securing second place. Other destinations, including Munnar and Varkala, were also named ‘Most Welcoming Cities’ in Kerala, reflecting the state’s diverse travel experiences.
Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas emphasised that this honor reinforces Kerala’s reputation for serene backwaters, picturesque landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, ensuring its continued global tourism appeal. Tourism Secretary Shri K Biju and Tourism Director Smt Sikha Surendran echoed this sentiment, crediting innovative tourism initiatives for Kerala’s increasing popularity among global travellers.
India saw a total of 15,674 hospitality partners receiving awards, with Kerala standing out for its diverse and personalised travel experiences. Santosh Kumar, Country Manager at Booking.com, acknowledged Kerala’s exceptional hospitality, stating that its unique mix of backwaters, lush hills, and vibrant culture makes it a top destination for travellers.
With this latest recognition, Kerala Tourism continues to strengthen its position on the global map, offering travellers an ideal blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion.
