The Maharashtra government is set to transform Lonavala’s popular Tiger and Lion Points with an ambitious INR 850-crore tourism project. The plan includes a glass skywalk, a connecting bridge, and various adventure activities. The project, spanning 8.7 hectares, will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to attract private investment. Entry gates, ticketing cabins, food parks, rooftop cafes, viewing galleries, gazebos, and restrooms will be part of the new infrastructure.
Visitors can look forward to a range of adventure activities such as a zip line, scary drop, Ferris wheel, and a light-and-sound show. The existing approach road from the old Mumbai-Pune highway will be widened, and a missing link will be developed to connect the Mumbai-Pune expressway with the project. Additionally, parking space for around 1,800 four-wheelers and 2,250 two-wheelers will be created, ensuring seamless accessibility.
Lonavala, nestled in the Sahyadri mountain range, is one of Maharashtra’s most-visited tourist destinations, drawing nearly 14 lakh tourists annually. The government aims to enhance facilities at these scenic viewpoints, making them more attractive to visitors from Mumbai, Pune, and nearby regions. Given its equidistant location between Mumbai and Pune, Lonavala serves as a perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to boosting tourism and infrastructure development in the region. By improving accessibility and introducing world-class attractions, Maharashtra aims to position Lonavala as a premier destination for both domestic and international tourists. The project is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy, generating employment and enhancing the overall visitor experience.
