The final ‘Shahi Snan’ of Mahakumbh 2025 saw an overwhelming gathering of devotees in Prayagraj on Maha Shivratri. Over 66 crore people participated in the grand event, with more than 1.5 crore devotees taking a holy dip on the concluding day. In Varanasi, the iconic ‘Shiv Baraat’ procession witnessed a historic change due to the overlapping influx of pilgrims. Traditionally held on Maha Shivratri, the event was rescheduled for the following day to accommodate the large crowds. The procession, which starts at Mahamrityunjay Temple and passes through key locations, has maintained a four-decade-long tradition, making this shift a rare occurrence.
