In a significant move to boost sports tourism between Malaysia and India, the Malaysia Sports Tourism Association and Tourism India Alliance have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at OTM 2025 in Mumbai. This collaboration aims to enhance cross-border tourism opportunities and position both nations as premier sports tourism destinations.
The MoU was signed by Jagdeep Bhagat, President of Tourism India Alliance, and Azura Zainol Abidin, President of Malaysia Sports Tourism Association, in the presence of Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia. The partnership will facilitate exchanges between industry experts, support joint participation in events, and organize training programs, workshops, and networking sessions focused on sports tourism development.
Additionally, the collaboration will promote knowledge sharing through industry reports, research findings, and tourism trends. Both organisations will support each other’s initiatives via digital platforms, marketing campaigns, and public relations efforts while also exploring joint ventures and investment opportunities to expand sports tourism offerings.
This strategic alliance is set to unlock new opportunities, strengthen tourism initiatives, and elevate Malaysia and India’s presence in the global sports tourism sector, paving the way for long-term cooperation and mutual growth.
