Moscow continues to establish itself as a premier travel destination, welcoming 19.7 million visitors in the first nine months of 2024, including 1.9 million foreign tourists—a 19% rise from the previous year. India has emerged as a key non-CIS inbound market, contributing over 61,000 visitors. Strengthening its ties with India, Moscow made a strong impact at OTM 2025 in Mumbai, showcasing its rich cultural and business tourism offerings while reinforcing its commitment to the Indian market.
During the exhibition, the Moscow City Tourism Committee signed two significant agreements to enhance tourism cooperation with Indian partners. A landmark cooperation agreement with Maharashtra aims to promote travel between Moscow and Mumbai. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thomas Cook India Group was finalised to develop customized travel experiences for Indian tourists, focusing on MICE tourism. These collaborations are expected to boost Indian arrivals and strengthen Moscow’s positioning as a favored international destination.
Ahead of OTM 2025, Moscow hosted a Business Mission, facilitating over 1,200 negotiations between 14 Moscow-based travel companies and 109 foreign travel agencies. India remains a priority market, with Moscow actively participating in major Indian travel events such as BLTM, SATTE, and MILT Congress. The city’s focus on B2B partnerships, familiarisation trips, and business missions continues to enhance engagement with Indian travellers.
With its world-class attractions and strong strategic initiatives, Moscow remains a sought-after destination for Indian tourists. The increasing number of visitors and strengthened partnerships indicate a promising future for Moscow’s tourism sector, particularly in the leisure and MICE segments.
