Dr. Nitin Mittal of Bengaluru-based Hotel & Apartment Group, has been appointed the National Coordinator for a two-year 2025-26 term
The Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA) celebrated 10 years of its formation at a function organised at the iconic The Bristol in Gurgaon on February 7, 2025. The association, formed in 2014, has about 250 odd members and boasts of a national footprint.
The event was attended by NIMA members, and industry stakeholders like NTOs, destination marketing companies, MICE operators, DMCs, airlines, and members of the press.
The event was also marked by the announcement of a new 13-member Managing Committee and a four-member Advisory Council. Dr. Nitin Mittal of Bengaluru-based Hotel & Apartment Group, has been appointed the National Coordinator for a two-year 2025-26 term. He will be assisted by NIMA veterans like Kapil Arora, Rakesh Arora, Gurmeet Singh Chhatwal, among others.
Besides, the association also announced a four member Advisory Council that boasts of industry veterans like STIC Travel Group Chairman Dr. Subhash Goyal, Buzz Travel Marketing’s SanJeet, along with Holiday Merchants’ Vikas Khanduri and Gajesh Girdhar who is the Chairman of Governing Council and a Founder Member. Girdhar’s brainchild, he was also the association’s first National Coordinator when it was conceived in 2014.
Recalling how the association was conceived in 2014, Girdhar, said, “We decided to form NIMA based on certain principle fundamentals. One was that we will not charge membership fee. Second was that some 35 percent of our members will be from tier III cities. Third was that we will promote unique products and destination. And we have remained steadfast in our commitment to these guiding principles.”
Congratulating NIMA on the “important milestone”, Evgeny Kozlov, First Deputy Head of the Office of the Mayor, Government of Moscow, and Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, in his video message, said, “NIMA is a pioneer and continue to fulfill the primary purpose of helping businesses grow and prosper. We are proud and happy that we have taken this path with you that you have become our guiding star in the Indian market and continue to support us in every way possible. Our beneficial collaboration has shown great result in the Indian market.”
Speaking on the occasion, Vikas Khanduri, pointed that NIMA has emerged as a closely knit membership organisation and has a lot of intra-membership leads and transactions that transpires across its national membership base. He also highlighted that NIMA members are properly whetted and are seal of guarantee of services, competitiveness, and so on.
Over the years, NIMA has closely worked with NTOs and stakeholders like Cyprus Tourism, Catalonia (Spain) Tourism, Florida (USA) Tourism, Taiwan Tourism Administration, Malaysia Tourism, Singapore Tourism Board, Jordan Tourism, Moscow Tourism, St. Petersburg Tourism, Abu Dhabi Tourism, Nepal Tourism, Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Resorts World Cruises, InterContinental Hotel Group, Singapore Airlines, among others, fostering strong international MICE partnerships. It has also organised three NIMA MICE Forums, a knowledge sharing, education and networking platform, in Raipur, Jaipur and Amritsar. These events have been supported by Abu Dhabi Touris, Nepal Tourism, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh Tourism Board. In order to promote domestic MICE destinations, NIMA has also organised members’ familiarization trips to places like Vishakhapatnam in the past.
