Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture & Tourism and Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) successfully launched their India Destination Promotion Event 2025 in Kolkata. Hosted at Gallery Hyatt Centric, this marked the first stop of an ambitious six-city roadshow, bringing together key tourism stakeholders from both nations. The event featured B2B meetings between Turkish suppliers and Indian travel partners, focusing on luxury travel, MICE tourism, and wedding destinations. Immersive presentations and interactive sessions showcased Türkiye’s evolving tourism landscape, reinforcing previous promotional efforts.
The event saw participation from influential dignitaries, including Onur Gözet, Deputy Director General for Promotion, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, alongside Basak Onsal Demir, Counsellor for Culture and Tourism at the Turkish Embassy, and Cagla Yontem, Director for MICE (Wedding & Incentives). Around 30 leading Turkish tourism partners, including luxury hotels, DMCs, and specialised tour operators, engaged with over 200 Indian travel industry members. Türkiye’s increasing popularity among Indian travellers was highlighted by a 20% surge in interest in 2024, with Turkish Airlines and IndiGo reinforcing strong air connectivity between both countries.
Speaking at the event, Onur Gözet emphasized Türkiye’s focus on promoting lesser-known destinations beyond Istanbul and Cappadocia, ensuring a richer and more meaningful travel experience for Indian tourists. He highlighted Kolkata’s cultural heritage as an ideal launchpad for the roadshow, which aims to deepen engagement with Indian travellers. Türkiye is keen on showcasing its hidden gems, expanding its appeal beyond traditional hotspots. The event reflected growing Indian interest in Türkiye’s unique offerings, from historical wonders to luxury experiences and wedding destinations.
Following its success in Kolkata, the India Destination Promotion Event 2025 will continue its nationwide tour, with stops in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and concluding in Mumbai. This series of promotional events solidifies Türkiye’s strategic commitment to the Indian market, ensuring greater collaboration, increased tourism, and enhanced travel accessibility for Indian travelers.
