India’s wedding industry has fueled a 37% surge in travel and hospitality job demand, according to a report by job portal Indeed. This sharp increase highlights the growing influence of weddings on workforce trends, with roles like banquet coordinators, resort managers, and travel agents witnessing a hiring boom. Notably, wedding planners saw the highest spike, with a 70% rise in jobseeker interest.
The increasing popularity of destination weddings has made hotels and resorts key venues for grand celebrations. This has driven demand for skilled professionals to enhance service standards and ensure seamless event execution. Resort manager positions grew by 57%, hotel managers by 52%, and travel agents by 16%, underscoring the industry’s rapid expansion.
“The wedding industry is booming, and so is the demand for skilled professionals,” said Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India. Couples are investing in expert planning to craft unforgettable celebrations, creating abundant career opportunities within the hospitality sector. However, not all roles benefited equally—event staff and specialist tour manager positions saw a decline of 37% and 3.3%, respectively.
This hiring surge signals weddings’ vital role in shaping the hospitality industry’s future. With increased demand, hoteliers and event planners have the opportunity to maximize revenue, enhance service offerings, and attract top talent to cater to evolving client expectations.
